Email hosting

Page

We currently won’t create new accounts or aliases. It should be back at some point.
We only provide email accounts and aliases for collectives and sometimes people we know in real life.

Accounts

Currently not available

To request an account for a collective you are part of, just send us an email to tech@squat.net. We usually react pretty quickly (say a few days), and we might ask for some details about your collective to see if it fits our politics/likelyness :p

Account settings

If you wish to use an email client (such as Thunderbird), you may need these:

  • Login: your full email address (login@squat.net)
  • IMAP: server: mail.squat.net; port: 993 (SSL/TLS)
  • POP: server: mail.squat.net; port 995 (SSL/TLS)
  • SMTP: server: mail.squat.net; port 465 (SSL/TLS)

Webmail

You can access your mail through webmail : Zimbra

Change your password

You can change your password in the webmail.

Aliases

We don’t provide aliases anymore, but this might change at some point, who knows!

A note about privacy

As admins, we are able to read your email. So are hackers who get control of our servers, so is the police if they seize the server (and manage to bypass the disk encryption). Thus, if you want your mail to be encrypted (or kind of), we suggest you use OpenPGP encryption.
